About Loyola College (Rev.Rector)
Loyola College situated at Daluwakotuwa, Negombo Sri Lanka had a humble beginning since its inception in 1949 in the village called Periyamulle. At that stage it catered to school drop onts Mr. S.V.Fonseka, the first principal served for twenty two long years in a small building in the church premises of Periyamulle, called as Loyola College.
Today, the school has grown in stature in the present location Daluwakotuwa, Negombo. This was only an old oil mill converted to a school, by the then Archbishop of Colombo Rt.Rev.Dr. Nicholas Marcus Fernando, who purchased this land for sixteen million rupees, May I also recall with gratitude all the help and assistance support and encouragement given to me at all times by Rt.Rev.Dr.Oswald Gomis, the Archbishop of Colombo for the speedy development of the school.
Today, Loyola College is a fast developing school in Negombo. It has two thousand two hundred roll and ninety two members on the staff. It also has a Branch School at Bopitiya. This school has been at its present location since 3rd November 1997. During the past thirteen years the school has made rapid progress as a co-education semi government school. It is only a matter of time that Loyola College will be a leading school in the country. Our focus in on excellence in Education, facilitating a well intergrated personality development that would enhance and the society in which we live.
May I also thank all the past principals and past and present members of the staff and all our well wishers for all the support and assistance given to make Loyola College what it is today. May Loyola College Negombo and the Branch School at Bopitiya grow from strength to strength.
